Messages from the edge of extinction

In this activity you and your partner will be learning about Endangered Animals in the United States.

Your group will be creating a poster presentation about Endangered Animals in Michigan.  Your report should include:  Animals, plants, insects, and birds.

Make a poster of your results to share with the class.  This poster should include:

            *Important facts about species

            *Reasons for decline

            *Pictures of species

*Map to show distribution of species

Questions to ponder:  Pick a specific species and answer the following questions:

1.    When and why did the numbers start to decline?

2.    What are the major threats to the species?

3.    What has been done so far to save this species?

4.    Why is it important to save this particular species?  (Do other species depend on it?)

5.    What are your recommendations to save this species from extinction?
