Goals and Objectives

The goal of this course is to provide students with an open environment of exploration of scientific concepts.  Students are encouraged to be creative and have fun while maintaining a high level of academic excellence.

Organization of the Human Body

Skeletal System

Muscle System

The Digestive Process

Respiration and Energy

Endocrine and Integumentary systems

Circulatory System

Urinary System

Nervous System and Sense Organs

Reproduction and Development

Students in this class will also be expected to participate in the Science Fair, write papers, and do group activities.  There will be many opportunities for success in this class.  Integration of the Internet and hands-on lab activities will be an integral part of this course.

The grading scale is posted in Mrs. Cook's room and follows the standard set by all CHS staff.

A lab notebook will be collected at the end of the semester.   A comprehensive final exam will also be given at the end of the semester.

Requirements

*Come to class Prepared!

        This means:

         -Read text assignments.

         -Turn in assignments on time.

         -Bring text to class.

         -Bring a writing utencil.

         -Turn in assignments on time.

Tests

 

*Tests will be given for every chapter.  They will vary in nature.  Make up tests for absences will be in essay format and if you will be gone for a sport, you will need to take the test ahead of time.

*We will review material in class, but it is recommended that a few minutes of study time each day be incorporated into the student's study plans.
