"Who
was Gregor Mendel?"
1. Tell me about Gregor Mendel. Who he was, what his experiment was, what significant role did he play in the study of Genetics. Go to Mendel's Paper to evaluate his experimental design. Was he just lucky to discover his findings or was his design purposeful? Do you think that this may have diminished his work or contributed to it? Why do you think Mendel's work was not noticed until much later? Who brought it back into focus? (site your sources)
2. Mendel only looked at single gene traits. Most of the traits in organisms are genetically controlled by several genes. Some genes are influenced by the environment. Do you think it is important to know the genetic basis for all traits in order to understand our own health and traits? Why or why not?
3. Summarize your answers to 1 and 2. Be sure to include references. Your paper may be typed or hand-written in blue or black ink. Separate page for references, try to have at least 3 - 5.
