Introduction

There are many interesting people that took part in the formation of our country. These people shaped our history, and many of their decisions led the way for decisions to be made in the future based upon the hardships, mistakes, and successes experienced by these forefathers. 

Although these early Americans were each unique in their own way, they also shared many virtues, that we still value greatly today.

Task

Your task is to assume the persona of a famous person who helped to build our nation using their strong character and virtue.  You will research your person, contribute information to a class Power Point, write an "autobiography" and assume the role of your person to present your information.

Process

  1. Choose a person to research from the Patriot List.
  2. Use the links below to find information about your patriot.  Use the information to fill in your Patriot Sheet
  3. Create 3-5 Power Point slides about your patriot.  
  4. Write a one page "autobiography" as if you WERE this patriot.  You will present your writing in our Hall of Americans.

Facts are accurate.  Patriot's life, accomplishments and virtues are clearly described with supporting detail.   Paragraph format is correct. Complete paragraphs including strong topic sentence, supporting details, and colorful word choice.  Piece is free of  writing or spelling errors.
3 Sheet is filled out with good accuracy, Few errors, omissions, or missing sources Facts are accurate.  Patriot's life, accomplishments and virtues are described Paragraph format is correct. Work is organized, some supporting details are present.  Few grammar or spelling errors are present
2 Sheet is partially completed and/or has numerous errors.  Sources are not listed Facts are mostly accurate, but Patriot's accomplishments and/or virtues are not described Paragraph format is incorrect.  Writing is unorganized with few or no supporting details. 
1 Very little or incorrect information, sources not listed Facts are incorrect.   Paragraph format is incorrect.  Writing is unorganized with no supporting details. Many grammar and spelling errors.
