INTRODUCTION

Our town has decided to build a new zoo for everyone to visit!   There are too many animals in the world to include them all.  You have been asked to be part of a committee to decide which animals should be included in the new zoo.

TASK

Choose an animal that you think everyone would like to see and prepare a presentation to convince the committee to include a habitat for your animal in the new zoo.

PRODUCTS

  1. Complete your Animal Note Sheet 

  2. Write a one page report about your animal.

  3. Make a map showing where your animal can be found in its natural habitat.

  4. Make a menu for your animal

  5. Draw a picture of your animal

  6.  Make a diorama showing your animal in its natural environment.   (Remember, dioramas are 3-dimensional and should have something in the background and foreground. )

  7. Design 3 slides for our class Power Point Presentation about your animal.  

    • Slide 1 - Introduce animal and show picture 

    • Slide 2 - Describe the animal's environment and tell where it can be found in the world.

    • Slide 3 - Tell at least 3 interesting facts about your animal that make it unique.

    • Use colors  and graphics that "go with" your animal.

    DISPLAY ALL OF THE ABOVE MATERIALS ON A TRI-FOLD DISPLAY BOARD. 
    (Diorama may be separate)

Webliography
Students will fill out a chart for each web page they use in gathering information.

Each student will receive a completed rubric from teacher showing self assessment and teacher assessment of their work.
